Nuts About Nature

Forest School lessons are planned to promote risky play, and that is exactly what we do here at The Barn!
Alongside last weeks lesson on using tools the children all made their own small fire one to one with our Forest School lead Kate. At the end of the session the children then made a 'magic fire'. By adding a very special potion to the fire a little at a time, we watched the flames roar with different colours.
The Preschool children filled with confidence and enthusiasm independently stood in front of their class and sang a song of their choice around the campfire.
As previously shown, we have continued to develop our well loved outdoor areas. Outdoor play is one of our main focuses at the nursery and we always continue to improve our environment using the childrens interests. We have recently added an art easel to the garden area, with clear Perspex, the children love painting watching their friends either side.

For Mother's day the children and staff at the nursery invited all of their Mums to an afternoon tea. Children within each class made sandwiches, scones, fruit platters, jam and cakes for everyone to enjoy. Staff served hot drinks, and decorated our outside environment with pink blossom trees and seating. All of the Mummies enjoyed their afternoon spent with the nursery and their children. Thank you to everyone who came, it was so lovely to spend time with you all.
